Review: The Loop by Ben Oliver

Honestly, I never knew this book existed until I unwrapped it as a YA blind date with a book - from my local bookshop. Aside from the AI system that initally creeped me out (mainly because I started this one at like 12am the other morning haha), I was so engrossed in the plot, and truly enjoyed it. I love the whole day 7XX of being in the Loop too (a so called jail for juveniles).  I found it interesting that the scenarios in this book sounds realistic, but also not at the same time, and it really intrigued me, especially the whole purgatory cross nearly inhumane scientific testing.  Also love the dual-class system. Reminds me of the Uglies series, which I enjoyed many years ago! Rating: 4/5

Review: Weapon by Lynette Noni

I thought Whsiper was amazing. Weapon is definitely just as good, if not better!  The characters, the plot, the twists. It was all a delightful read, and I devoured it all. I loved the focus on truth, family, and alliances. I'm a real sucker for that. Add in something that is sciencey, and I think I've found my new favourite duology. This book gave me a love-hate relationship with some of the characters, Kael included. I'm glad I felt the ways I did with this book, because honestly, it is wow. The writing is absolutely crisp and so fast-paced that I didn't see those twists coming! Rating: 5/5 Thanks to Panterra Press for the bind up copy of the Whisper duology!

Review: Whisper by Lynette Noni

Superpowers caused by a drug that wasn't researched well? This is my jam! Another #LoveOzYA favourite of mine, and I can't believe I didn't read this until now! I love our main character, Jane Doe. This is definitely one of my favourite characters in a while. Unsure, afraid, but also badass and stubborn (like me). It was all neatly written here for this little bookdragon to enjoy! I can't wait to give my thoughts on Weapon too! Rating: 5/5 I was given a bind up copy of Whisper and Weapon by Panterra Press, who reached out to me to read and review.

First look thoughts: A Vow so Bold and Deadly

I'm actually intrigued from the get go after reading this excerpt! We get more Lia Mara, and we get all the other characters. I want more Lia Mara story after reading her chapter, honestly. I also am interested to see about Harper too. I hope the rest of the book is like the chapters I saw!

Review: Chase and the Girl Who Came Back by Amber Davis

This read was one I picked up as a quick read as a break between thesis editing sessions!  It was super adorable, and it was so very Australian in nature. I also loved how Chase and his gang were so chill with the 'new' girl Yasmin and her sister, Millie. I also LOVED all the Disney references that were in the book. I also loved the diabetes rep in there, there's not a lot of books I've come across that have that in there. I adored how postively nearly all the characters embrace dealing with the disease so that they care for their friend. Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Barshadoust

This was brilliant. I loved how this was a fairytale retelling, but with a twist. It was so wonderfully written, and just had the fairytale magic feel to it. I love it when the girl is the monster. That's something I love in a book. It also made me forgive that there was a love triangle in there (I'm not a fan of those in 99% of cases). I look forward to reading more Barshadoust in the future! Rating: 4/5

Review: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

This book. THIS book. Hot damn. I hecking loved this one. A lot. 300 year old Addie. The flashbacks. EVERYTHING. This one hit me in the feels, and I had a book hangover for ages afterwards. The writing broke me, honestly. It was exceptionally wonderful.  I wish I had more coherent thoughts, but I don't (even though it's been a monthish since I read it). Dammit, Schwab! Rating: 5/5
