Review: Before the Beginning by Anna Morgan

This is another one of Anna Morgan's books I absolutely loved! It had mystery, it had ghost things, it had exploration. If I was looking for an Australian coming-of-age story that wasn't your run-of-the-mill schoolies story, I hit gold. I loved it so much, despite me never actually doing anything for schoolies (aside from reading books). I enjoyed the friendships and the enemies-to-friends in this book so much! Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin

Whilst I enjoyed this book, it was definitely a filler book, filled with characters doing mildly dumb stuff. I definitely enjoyed the lighter read, but I felt like I needed more, especially with the waiting around for things to happen. The ending was pretty decent though, but I needed more pub songs and less waffle. Rating: 4/5 only because I kinda enjoyed it anyways.

Review: Defending the Galaxy by Maria V. Snyder

This book was utter perfection. It had the space elements, it had the sentinel elements, it had tension. One of the best conclusions to a trilogy I have read in a very long time.  I loved our characters and story just as much as I did in book one, and the story still had me gripped from page to page. It was the YA scifi I have been craving for the longest time! This is not a series to be missed, and I'm thrilled to have enjoyed every page of Maria's Sentinels of the Galaxy series. Rating: 5/5

Review: Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer

Have you ever done a group project with someone you’ve found insufferable? Prudence from Instant Karma has. An interesting take on the enemies to lovers trope, Marissa Meyer’s foray into contemporary doesn’t disappoint! Prudence, named after the Beatles song (as is the title and many other Easter eggs in the book that you’ll notice if you’re a Beatles fan like me), is a perfectionist, and everything has to be done her way or the highway. She quickly learns that this isn’t the way her biology teacher works, when she has to work with Quint. Quint appears lazy and slack-offish, but something told me from the get go that he wasn’t your classic The Fonz character either. I absolutely LOVED the dynamics between Prudence and Quint at the start, even though she was a little hard to gel with initially, as she is stand-offish and unlikeable; but I like that in some characters. I also love how the dynamics between Rosa (Quint’s mum) and Quint also worked in its own little way. Speaking of charact...

Review: Little Wishes by Michelle Adams

Do you ever wonder about those that you were close to, after you drift apart? What if they left little messages every year? Michelle Adams explores both of these questions in her heartbreaking new book, Little Wishes. First of all, I love the idea of leaving little notes for the other to find. That’s super cute and I’d love that myself! Secondly, would you investigate when all of a sudden they stop all of a sudden? I absolutely would! I love this premise so much and I wish more books had this. Whilst those little notes (or wishes) were tender, we also have heartbreak, where Elizabeth finds that Tom is terminally ill. This actually made me cry. Elizabeth is headstrong, but also cares tremendously, and is willingly to grant all the wishes Tom left for her. With the flashbacks, we see Tom as a young and fragile man who saved Elizabeth’s mum from drowning in water. This is where Elizabeth meets Tom and has had an attraction to him since, despite being engaged. I loved how the story swung b...
