Review: The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion

An adorable sequel to The Rosie Project, and I enjoyed this one as much as I did for the last one! I laughed at times with this book, and I also cried or swore at this one. I enjoyed seeing the characters undergo changes from book 1 to book 2, and thoroughly enjoyed the overall essence of the plot. However, I felt that the ending was rushed a bit, and could've been expanded upon a little more. Rating: 4/5

Review: Flawed by Becky Bird

An adorable little retelling of Pride and Prejudice! It has the rich, and it has the 'poor' (but not poor in character traits, I assure you!). It was so swoony! I loved how this was set in a high school setting, and that the prescribed English text was Pride and Prejudice itself, a homage to the original. I love how the whole hate to love trope was written here, and I also love to hate Camila. I really enjoyed this fast-paced read! Rating: 4/5 Thanks to Becky Bird for giving me a digital review copy to read!

Review: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

A swoony and ABSOLUTELY adorable story, that is the definition of the perfect love-to-hate story! It was also heartbreaking, and powerful. I loved how the British prince bucked the trend and basically goes 'up yours Charlie' to the queen- who is very traditional. I found this to be a brilliant take on political and social issues, and it was so freaking cute! Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart

A powerful story, with powerful characters. It was gritty and realistic, and was truly heart-wrenching! The writing was clever, and felt well researched, especially from personal experiences. An inspirational book that really pulled on my heartstrings. I cannot recommend this one enough! Rating: 5/5 Thanks to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for a copy of this amazing book!

Review: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

A cute and charming book about a fussy genetics professor and his quest to find love. I LOVED how Rosie has such a big effect on Don Tillman and that was just such big swoon from me! I love how Don tries to get 'The Wife Project' to work for him, and I find it super cute that he never gave up! I love the opposites attract trope portrayed in this book, and tbh surely I'm not the first person to think that Gene is actually quite a dick. Rating: 4/5

Review: Right after the Weather by Carol Anshaw

An intriguing slice-of-life book that focuses on a six month period of the main character Cate's life. It felt slow at the start, however, I became engaged in the book part-way through, and got hooked into reading more about the characters. I enjoyed how the book felt theatric, and how violence can change someone's life. The themes of resilience and tragedy were well presented. The book left me hanging for more at the end. Rating: 4/5 Thanks Atria Books and NetGalley for the eARC!

Review: Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

A cute little trasure-hunt-gone-wrong book, set in space. Being set in space, I was already sold, and this book did not disappoint! It was action-packed and full of fun twists and just could picture Jule's 'Oxford' accent. I loved the  main characters and the dual perspective! THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH! Rating: 4.5/5

Review: The Grey Sisters by Jo Treggiari

It was an intriguing book premise, however I found the output was slightly lacking. The writing was rather enjoyable, but I would've enjoyed the further exploration of memories or even a little more world-building. I had trouble getting into it at first, as there was rapidly changing PoVs, but got used to it after some time. This book certainly has potential, it just didn't draw me in as much as I hoped. Rating: 3/5 Thanks to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for this eARC!

Review: Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff

This one truly made me take a fast-paced, action-packed whirlwind! It was seriously so good. The characters, especially Cricket and Lemon Fresh (I mean c'mon, I really freaking love that name- considering it's origin in this book) were sassy, and great. I also was hooked on the book when I heard there was killer robots. COOL. The book was based on Asimov's robotics laws, and ways around it AND I mean hellooooo killer robots and bloodthirsty cyborgs? HIT ME UP. I must source book two immediately. Have I mentioned killer robots??? Rating: 5/5

Review: Cold Storage by David Koepp

A cracking novel that focuses on the impending doom of a bioweapon. It was tons of fun, and fast-paced too! It had well formed characters, and a plot that now has me terrified of human contact (and fungi). The themes in the book were well integrated, and I love that there was a good dose humor. Rating: 4.5/5 Thanks to HQ/HarperCollins for the physical ARC copy!

Review: These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

A cute little space survival story, with two characters that try to hate each other, but don't. I love how the characters discover things on the planet that they're marooned on, and how the plot develops. I also loved how the characters developed here. I appreciated the dual POV for this book, and it really worked well, and I'm actually so ready to dive into book 2 when I have the chance! Rating: 4/5

Review: The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling by Wai Chim

An engaging, immersive read that left me hungry (for dumplings of course!) and heart-wrenched! Anna and Rory were great characters, and the whole plot was very moving. I especially loved how this amazing book touched on mental health and dealing with mental health. I certainly cried whilst reading this one! Rating: 5/5

Review: Wilder Girls by Rory Power

A modern-day Lord of the Flies. Truly horrifying and makes me scared to go into any woodlands whatsoever. I found this book rather gory, and creepy, but I had to find out what happened as the book went along. I wish I had more Taylor, as I feel like that would've been an interesting POV to read! Rating: 3.5/5

Review: The Stone Rainbow by Liane Shaw

A powerful queer+ book that was serious, but also funny. There was drama, but it wasn't drawn out, and the characters were detailed enough to keep me reading. Overall, a well written story (bar the sometimes confusing dialogue), and I'm glad it was more of a coming-out story, rather than a love story. Rating: 4/5 Thanks to NetGalley and Second Story Press for this eARC!
